Former Lakers player Lamar Odom, who is fighting for his life following a drug overdose, paid Love Ranch $75,000 to spend four to five days in the brothel. For that amount, he would have two women.
The two, Ryder Cherry and Monica Monroe, are now instant celebrities after reports identified them as the ones who found the ex-husband of Khloe Kardashian on Tuesday afternoon unconscious. However, E! News reports that the events affected the two sex trade workers. One of them refuses to leave her room, says Dennis Hof, the brothel owner.
Hof, likely wanting to avoid criminal liability in the medical condition of Odom, claims he was not aware if the athlete used drugs during his stay and points out that the brothel does not tolerate drug use. But he admits Ryder and Monica knew that Odom took cocaine and partied in Las Vegas before he came to Love Ranch.
Nye County authorities are considering what happened to Odom as a drug-related medical episode. While Hof is cooperating with county law enforcers, Love Ranch could still be in hot water because Reload, the brand of herbal sexual enhancement supplements the brothel sold to Lamar was the subject of a 2013 warning by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for containing sildenafil, the same ingredient found in Viagra, which when taken with other drugs, could result in blood pressure dropping to dangerous levels.
Besides Khloe and Joe Odom, Lamar's father, also at the Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center where Odom is in a medically induced coma following an ischemic stroke, is Liza Morales, the former girlfriend of Lamar with whom he has two children, Destiny and Lamar Jr.
ESPN reports that while Odom remains on life support, he made small progress over the past 24 hours.
