During his appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" to promote his new film "The Last Witch Hunter," Vin Diesel revealed that the first "Fast and Furious" film was based on an article in a magazine article.

Diesel told Jimmy Fallon that the article was published in the Vibe magazine and it was about the street racing scene in New York. It was originally published in May 1998 but was recently re-released in the magazine's website.

While discussing "The Last Witch Hunter" on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon," Diesel also spilled some beans about "Fast and Furious 8." He confirmed that the movie will be set in the city of New York. The actor had hinted on this fact earlier as well. He also confirmed that F. Gary Gray, of the "Straight Outta Compton" fame will be directing the movie.

Diesel also revealed about his hopes of getting Dame Helen Mirren on board the cast for "Fast and Furious 8." Mirren herself projected in one of her recent interview that one of her dream projects includes appearing in the "Fast and Furious" franchise.

The lead actor of the "Fast and Furious" franchise made a joke on Mirren's statement saying that she had better be careful what she wishes for, as she will not be able to leave the "Fast and Furious" franchise, once she enters it. The complete cast for the movie is still in its deciding phase. Many A-Listers are rumored to be approached for a role in the movie.

The whole group of "Fast and Furious" is known to be pretty close, calling themselves as a family. In an interview with PeopleMichelle Rodriguez revealed that she wanted to walk out of the first "Fast and Furious" movie at one point only because of the pressure. She added that she would like to see more female stars in the upcoming film.

"Fast and furious 8" is scheduled to release on April 14, 2017.
