Android 6.0 Marshmallow over the air update for Motorola's Moto G 2015 smartphones on Sprint was officially announced. According to the Taiwanese giant's support page, the third generation smartphone is now in line for the carrier's update confirmation.

Motorola recently confirmed that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update for Moto G 2015 is now set for release by Sprint. Motorola further went into the specifics for the software update on its support page, announcing that the Marshmallow will roll out to Moto G 2015 devices automatically via over the air as they come to be accessible, but only when the unit is connected to a Wi-Fi.

Besides Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update under Wi-Fi connection, users may also update their units manually with the use of the Motorola Device Manager and a USB connection. Users can also check the update through Settings > about phone > System updates.

Other tech companies such as Sony also unveiled its plans for Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Moto G 2015 will come with some fresh features along with major enhancements to the existing system and apps, GSM Arena reported. This includes fingerprint support, Apps Permissions, app drawer, Google Now, and battery saver Doze, to name a few. The new Marshmallow update also supports various mobile payment methods such as MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, as well as Google Pay.

Moto G 2015 device is one of Motorola's smartphone units which was announced to be getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade. It was first released in September, pre-equipped with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and was transported out of the box.
