Drake manages to do a whole host of dance styles in his new video, "Hotline Bling", which was released on Oct. 19, Monday.
The Canadian rapper manages to imitate a number of icons, probably even without realizing it. As the video begins, Drake does the light entertainer characterized by pastel shades. This makes it look more submissive than a video full of krumping. He makes his knees bend slightly and raises his elbows thus making this move look more playful and laughable.
Drake goes ahead and waggles his head side to side and does the twist hand gesture. He tries to prove that he has mastered many moves. Drake is seen doing the Sundari dance that originates from south India. The video also features Drake's ladies rising up from the staircase to heaven.
Additionally, the rapper does a little hint of salsa with his delicate, prissy flicks of the wrist. According to Rolling Stone this type of salsa is danced by the uptight upstate twinset brigade of "Dirty Dancing" ballroom dancers. Drake finally ends the video with a montage comprising of "The Bedtime Story", "The Stalker" as well as "The Band".
The "Hotline Bling" is produced by Nineteen85 with a rainy day sample of Timmy Thomas percussive 1972 single "Why Can't We Live Together". The video has been ascending up and is currently No.2 on the Billbord Hot 100, according to US Weekly. However, as analysts say, Drake would be thrilled if the "Hotline Bling" video becomes his very first number one video in the billboard.
