A recent teardown of the Google Nexus 5X from LG shows the inner workings of Google's smaller flagship smartphone. The teardown reveals that most of the Nexus 5X's parts are modular and are relatively easy to fix.
The teardown was performed and posted on the Internet by iFixit. The teardown reveal some interesting features, including the modular build of the device.
Opening the LG Nexus 5X is also easy as it does not have any screws holding together the back cover and the main body. The back panel is held in place with several clips instead. The mid-frame has 10 Phillips screws, holding everything in place.
According to iFixit, the LG Nexus 5X have several components that are easy to replace. Among these is the camera and the fingerprint scanner. The 2700mAh battery appears to be replaceable, unfortunately it was not. The battery connector is hidden in the mid-frame which makes it difficult to access.
According to Engadget, the LG Nexus 5X's display is fused. This means that the whole unit will have to be replaced in case either the LCD or cover glass is broken. On the other hand, the USB Type-C port is soldered into the motherboard and will be very difficult to replace in case it fails.
The LG Nexus 5X has a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD with 1920 x 1080 resolution. Although the smartphone has a USB Type-C port, it only supports USB 2.0 transfer speeds. While many were worried about this, tech experts believe that a simple update should be able to take care of this problem.
