Singer Adele released her latest music single "Hello" in Oct. 23 on Youtube, with fans and viewers focusing their attention and criticisms to her outdated mobile phone.

Viewers resorted to Twitter to post GIFs of the scene and to express their sentiments on Adele's featured phone. Instead of using contemporary devices such as Apple and Samsung in the music video, the director let the "Rolling In The Deep" singer use a flip phone and made the display in black & white.

Director Xavier Dolan elaborated his reasons on why he chose the old-fashioned gadget and retro theme amidst other modern devices and styles.

Dolan said that, "the real explanation is that I never like filming modern phones or cars. They're so implanted in our lives that when you see them in movies you're reminded you're in reality," as reported by CNN News.

The "Hello" director also added that using an iPhone or even a Toyota in the music video would lead audiences away from the story and make the video seem like a commercial.

Not only did Dolan want to retain the narrative of Adele's story, the video director also desired to have the flashback feel that accompanied the song's message and background. Despite the comments of Twitter users, Dolan stresses that the phone is not important in the production, as reported by the Daily Mail.

While viewers paid close attention to the old phone, the Grammy award winner has not addressed the tweets as her latest single currently has 45 million views on Youtube. "Hello" also featured Tristan Wilds, the actor of the HBO Series "The Wire." Wilds portrayed Adele's former boyfriend who shifted from being a joyful man to an abrasive one.

Adele's latest single is included in her upcoming album "25," which is set to be officially released on Nov. 20.
