Renowned detective Sherlock Holmes and his partner Dr. Watson will pair up once again to uncover a mystery in the 1800s inspired special "Sherlock: The Abominable Bride," which will air on January 1, 2016.

The video also gave viewers a brief look on the characters Mary Morstan or Mrs. Watson (Amanda Abbington) and Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs).

The 1890s Victorian Special of "Sherlock" will run for 90 minutes and it will simultaneously show on BBC One in the UK and PBS in the US for the first time next year, as reported by CNET.

In addition to the same-day broadcast, the 90 minute feature will also be shown in selected cinemas.

The series creators Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat co-wrote the special. According to Moffat, "Sherlock on the big screen. For us, it's a giant leap backwards - into Victorian London. The mean streets of 1895 have never looked so good."

Additionally, Moffat included that extra material would be provided during the screening in cinemas, especially a behind-the-scenes tour of the set and production.

As reported by BBC news, "Sherlock: The Abominable Bride" will be shown in all Picturehouse cinemas and limited Odeon and Vue cinemas while tickets will be ready for sale on November 2 of this year.

Not only is the "Sherlock" special going to air on screen in the US and the UK and on the silver screen, but the special will reportedly premiere in other countries around the world, among which is China.

While the 90-minute special would be shown on New Year's Day, the next season of "Sherlock" will reportedly start production the following year as well.
