The Shanghai New Culture (SNC) Media Group officially announced that they will be funding Jackie Chan's latest action adventure film entitled "Skiptrace" directed by Renny Harlin of the "The Legend of Hercules" and "Die Hard 2."
According to a statement from the company, they would join America's Day Entertainment and China's Talent International Film Co. in producing Chan's highly anticipated film where he co-stars with "X-Men" star Fan Bingbing and "Bad Grandpa" star Johnny Knoxville.
The movie was supposed to be produced by the Chinese and American entertainment companies with Chan, Esmond Ren, Charlie Coker, Damien Saccani and David Gerson.
After the announcement, however, the film will now be co-produced by SNC's Yang Zhenhua and Liu Xiaolin as well as Xing Xing's Wang Lifeng and Gao Qun, also from SNC.
Productions of the film commenced on Sept. 1.
The motion picture written by Jay Longino revolves around the story of Hong Kong detective Bennie Black portrayed by Chan who entered into an unconventional team with a fast-talking American gambler named Connor Watts played by Knoxville, who recently replaced Seann William Scott.
The unlikely pair then embarks on a journey filled with hilarious encounters across some of China's most scenic spots to rescue Bennie's niece Samantha, portrayed by Bingbing, after she gets into trouble with a crime syndicate that her uncle was tracking.
The movie will be showcasing tourist-attracting scenes of China from the windy plains of Inner Mongolia and the fairytale-like karst mountains of Guilin into the bright neon towers of Hong Kong.
