After two years of no microtransactions within the game "Payday 2," players are now complaining of additional purchases while at play.
Although the producers have long stated that there would be no other transactions, "Payday 2" gamers would need to buy drills to unlock crates in the game with real money. The people behind the pc game seemed to have no other choice in the matter due to business concerns.
Game producer Almir Listo addressed the issues on payments and explained the reasons behind the sudden extra charges. As reported by PC Gamer, Listo stated that " ...we have to ensure the future survival of the game. We do sales when we can where we reduce the price point up to 75% in order to pay people's wages and create a buffer for a rainy day. Six months ago, we also made a bold move to permanently reduce the price point of 16 PAYDAY 2 products by 33-43% in the hopes of drawing additional sales."
The studio aimed to maintain free improvements and developments for "Payday 2," but could not do from an economic standpoint due to their increased human labour, collaboration and other expenses as reported by VG 24/7.
While the players of the game have complained and are infuriated about the added expense, the game developers seem to be trying to ease the situation. The Black Market update for the pc game now allows players to unlock the keys and drills for free as a reward for completing tasks and missions.
Despite the criticisms and improvements, Listo remarked that the studio will not withdraw the option for purchases. The producer and the rest of the crew believe that the option is an opportunity for gamers to earn money and at the same time still experience everything the game has to offer.
In addition, the added income from the game would be used for staff salaries and for further enhancements on "Payday 2."
