The search giant Google has started rolling out the latest Android Marshmallow update to its Nexus devices. Soon the update will roll out to newer versions of Android handsets. If reports are anything to go by, Moto X Pure Edition (2015) will be the first Motorola device to get Android Marshmallow update.

Motorola's David Schuster said that there have been a few reports of a Android Marshmallow 'soak test' that has begun for Moto X Pure Edition. He further said that they want to make it clear that they have not begun a formal soak test. However, they have begun a small TestDrive for the Android Marshmallow upgrade on the smartphone, GottaBeMobile reported.

Reports also suggest that Schuster confirmed that the initial stages of the Marshmallow upgrade are in fact in progress. Schuster said that they will be conducting the tests for the next few weeks. The Android 6.0 M update may possibly arrive in November.

Furthermore, there are many reasons to think that the 2015 Moto X Pure Edition will be the first non- Nexus Motorola device to get the Android Marshmallow update.

The 2014 Moto X was the first non-Nexus device to get the Android 5.0 in late November, just a few weeks after its launch.

The Moto X 2015 was sold unlocked and carrier-free, which means that the device is able to avoid the additional weeks of waiting for carrier testing before rolling it out.

The electronics maker Motorola preloads a few apps onto the Moto X Pure Edition, but the OS largely remains pure Android, eliminating the need to devote more time readjusting the user interface for every Android update.

This suggests a same timetable for the Android M update on the Moto X 2015 as last year's Android Lollipop update on the Moto X 2014.

Nexus 6, 2014 Moto Turbo, 2014 Moto MAXX, DROID Turbo and  2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the United States are some of the other devices that will get the Android Marshmallow update. The company has also announced that the Moto G2 and Moto G3 will get the latest update soon, according to Android Standard.
