Similarity between the two "Hello" tracks:

The Title. The similarity is obvious. The title of both artists' hit songs is, "Hello."

The Phone Theme. Both artists had a phone and appear to be having a conversation with someone on the other end of the line. The difference lies in the type of phone used - Adele had a controversial flip phone while Richie had a much older phone model.

The Emotional Melody. Both songs are ballads that are overpowered with emotion. Adele's new video shows her fixing tea while reminiscing about her ex while singing, "So hello from the other side. I must have called a thousand times. To tell you I'm sorry for everything that I've done"
