Kristen Wiig has voiced her thoughts on why she opted to be part of Paul Feig's "Ghostbusters" reboot.
In her interview with Entertainment Weekly, Wiig said that she had read the script and she had actually fallen in love with it. In fact, the actress commented that Feig and Katie Dippold's story was actually "smart" and "funny." Wiig also mentioned that all the characters had been great, not to mention that that first two predecessors of the film were so refined, reverential, and amusing.
In his previous interviews, Feig had revealed that he had been working for the film to showcase a blend of fear and amusement. In fact, the filmmaker had also said before that his upcoming film would be inspired heavily by the television series "The Walking Dead," which is assumed to contribute to the scary part of the film.
Wiig's idea that Feig's script was great was a satisfactory endorsement, according to Cinema Blend. However, exact details on the story's plot, additional characters, and cast are yet to be revealed.
Feig's upcoming "Ghostbusters" will most likely follow the same premise in Reitman's "Ghostbusters," which followed parapsychology professors who set up a shop as their unique ghost removal service.
"Ghostbusters" is set to showcase a blend of old and new cast members. Aside from Wiig, the film stars Sigourney Weaver, Earnie Hudson, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Annie Potts, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, and Chris Hemsworth, among others.
Feig's "Ghostbusters" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on July 15, 2016.
