"Super Smash Bros 4" avid fans were disillusioned when the news concerning the "Shovel Knight" surfaced. The character is reportedly not included on the roster of playable characters in the game and the speculated DLC.

Yacht Club Games, creator of "Shovel Knight" already issued a statement to clarify the rumors surrounding this character inclusion. According to the developer, the listing was a mistake and that the "Shovel Knight Amiibo" will not be compatible with "Super Smash Bros 4," and therefore, unplayable.

The company twitted on its official account, "Appreciate the enthusiasm for the idea, but I believe this listing was made in error."

"Shovel Knight Amiibo" has a big fanbase, which spurred excitement when the rumors began spreading about the possibility of the character's inclusion in the upcoming game. There were speculations that a possible DLC for "Super Smash Bros 4" is in development and it might feature the "Shovel Knight," according to Reality Today.

Meanwhile, Regulus Tera, a user from NeoGAF forum, posted a recent finding on the patch information from the game and established extra Marios on the data. The information was also confirmed by another user, Neoxon, explaining later that the extra Marios are in reality placeholders for the other three or more characters, as perceivable in the NeoGAF.

Enthusiasts of the game speculated that "Shovel Knight" might be among the three rumored characters. However, this could not be forthcoming but fans expect seeing Isaac and Wolf in the upcoming game. Further rumors pointed towards the inclusion on "Splatoon" characters - another Nintendo bestseller.

At the moment, there is no confirmation from Nintendo or the developers of the "Shovel Knight" character. Fans will have to wait for an official statement concerning the characters to feature in "Super Smash Bros 4."
