Rumors claim that Neymar, 23, is leaving FC Barcelona to join the English football club Manchester United. The Brazilian footballer is reportedly fed up with in the shadow of Argentine footballer Lionel Messi, 28, at the Spanish football club.
In Messi's absence due to injury, Neymar currently serves the main man at the Catalan club. However, he is said to be concerned about having to take a backseat again Messi recovers from injury and returns.
It appears that Neymar really wants to win the FIFA Ballon d'Or and being with Messi at FC Barcelona will not help him achieve this goal, according to Soccer Laduma.
According to Neymar's father, who is a former footballer, Manchester United already made a bid but FC Barcelona rejected it. The English football club seems to be determined to have the Brazilian footballer in their team so they are doubling his wages to a £500,000 ($765,200) per week just to keep him at the Nou Camp.
If this happens, Neymar will become the third-highest paid player in world football behind Messi and Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, 30, who plays for the Spanish football clum Real Madrid, according to Mirror.
Neymar was only 19 when he won the South American Footballer of the Year award in 2011. He won the same award in 2012. In 2013, he was selected as part of the Brazil squad for the Confederations Cup.
In the 2014 World Cup, Neymar made headlines when he introduced a South African boy who ran onto the pitch after the final whistle to his Brazil teammates.
