One of the highlights of the APEC 2014 Summit held in Beijing was the tree-planting event led by Chinese President Xi Jinping that symbolized the leaders' solid pact to pay more attention to the environment.

The event served as a symbol among APEC members to attend to the environment and its conservation for a greener future, and in the hopes of attaining cooperation among all the delegates in the countries they lead toward saving the planet.

In another event, Philippine President Benigno Aquino III had a meeting with President Xi on the aspect of reforming a bilateral consensus to leverage arguments in a beneficial way for the Philippines and China.

The two Asian countries had always been in good terms, according to Xi, but was recently disconnected due to disputes in the South China Sea.

Xi is hoping for the Philippines to meet China midway and re-open the healthy and prosperous relationship they once had.

Meanwhile, tensions became evident between U.S. President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin during the summit. There were a number of cold gestures between the two which could have been brought about by Russia's participation in the Ukraine conflict, according to Reuters.

Clearly, the two powerful leaders have different personal styles. Putin is the masculine type, while Obama is the professional and self-conscious type.

At the tree-planting event, Putin strutted up, chest out and piled mud into a partially planted tree.

Obama, on the other hand, walked up, picked up the shovel and dumped soil into his tree, all the while grinning and beaming, according to the record of events.
