As per TV Line, Fries was described as a "ferociously smart" and "eminently capable" in his work as one of Gotham's outstanding cryogenics engineers; however, he failed to establish fruitful relationships with other people. Nora, his wife, had become terminally ill, so Fries went to extreme measure to find a way to freeze her before she dies. This led him to become the villain Mr. Freeze.

Mr. Freeze had been around in the Batman comics, since 1959, as per Comic Book Resources. According to the publication, Mr. Freeze was originally called Mr. Zero and the villain got his second name in 1966's "Batman" television series, where the character had become popular.

In 1992's "Batman: The Animated Series," Fries was viewed as a tragic figure motivated to save his terminally ill wife. Then, Arnold Schwarzenegger played the villain in 1997's "Batman & Robin."

Aside from playing the role of Secret Service agent Edward Meechum in "House of Cards," Darrow is also set to be part of Devon Gummersall's horror thriller "Stranger in the House," Alan Brown's thriller "In the Studio," Barry Levinson's drama television movie "The Wizard of Lies," Devin E. Haqq's "Ambition's Debt," and Brian Koppelman, David Levien, and Andrew Ross' drama series "Billions."

Meanwhile, "Gotham" Season 2 Episode 6, entitled "Rise of the Villains: By Fire," saw Bridgit Pike reunite with her brothers, leading her to have courage to lead her own future. Episode 6 also saw Kringle and Nygma's bond go up higher while Galavan and Penguin pushed their plans of controlling Gotham City.

"Gotham" Season 2 Episode 6 "Rise of the Villains: By Fire" aired on Oct. 26. Episode "Rise of the Villains: Mommy's Little Monster" airs on Nov. 2.
