Yishan Wong left his position as Reddit's CEO after having disagreements with the social networking and news site's board of directors regarding the company's new offices.

The former CEO worked for two-and-a-half years before quitting last week after a fallout with the firm's board regarding the budget and location for new offices, said Sam Altman, an investor to Reddit, through the company's official blog post.

"To be clear, though, we didn't ask or suggest that he resign--he decided to when we didn't approve the new office plan," Altman wrote.

Sam Altman, the president of investment firm Y Combinator, which helped Reddit grow in 2005, gave out additional details about what happened during the disagreement with Wong.

According to Altman, the former CEO wanted to relocate the office to Daly City, which the board disagreed with. However, Altman and the board said that they may agree with Wong after he presents them additional data regarding the number of employees that would be staying and comparisons of market rents.

Altman said that he did not expect to deal with such issues after only investing recently in the company.

Altman also mentioned that Reddit business and partnerships strategist Ellen Pao will be acting as the temporary CEO for the company. Pao was a Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers junior partner, but she left after filing a gender discrimination lawsuit against the company. She entered the Reddit team April of 2013.

Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, will be returning to act as a full-time chairman. Ohanian will oversee the communications, community, marketing and strategy of the company.

Former CEO Wong entered Reddit in March two years ago after being a director of engineering with Facebook.
