The Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has once again been crowned "Best Airport" in China, making this year's award the eighth time it held the title over the course of nine years.

Aside from the award announced by travel magazine Business Traveler China, the HKIA was also renowned as the "Asia Pacific Airport of the Year" by Payload Asia in its most recent Industry Choice Award.

The HKIA, also a nominee in the "Hong Kong Star Brands Award 2014 Enterprise," has been hailed by the travel magazine as the best airport in the country as it almost garnered the honor nine straight years since 2006, missing the award only in 2009.

Hong Kong Airport Authority Deputy Director Vivian Cheung expressed the company's utmost pleasure at receiving such an honor, noting the "great recognition" the airport has received "from both the industry and the public" for nearly a decade.

The Business Traveler China's "Best Airport in China" is selected by hundreds of readers participating in an annual poll that was launched in 2005 by the travel magazine.

In the online survey conducted, participants voted for hospitality organizations, airports and airlines that provided them with the most enjoyable and stress-free experience during their travels.

The HKIA was also hailed as the cargo industry's choice as the "2014 Asia Pacific Airport of the Year" selected by a panel from the air cargo industry based on criteria that included operational performance, cargo growth and development strategy, product innovation, customer service, services and competitive cost structures.

The award was announced via the air cargo publication Payload Asia.

For four years, the Hong Kong airport did not drop from the top five spot in a Skytrax survey where over 11 million travelers voted for their favorite hassle-free airports.

The HKIA was also dubbed as the "World's Best Airport" in 2011.
