‘Furious 8’ Cast Update: Elijah Wood As Vin Diesel’s Son?

Elijah Wood, 34, recently joked about joining the cast of "Fast & Furious" but not in the upcoming sequel and he already has a role in mind. He wants to play the son of Dominic Toretto played by his "The Last Witch Hunter" co-actor Vin Diesel.

At a recent "The Last Witch Hunter" special screening in New York City, Wood told People magazine, "What if I was his illegitimate son that just, like, pops up in ('Fast & Furious') 9. It would be pretty awesome."

In order to make his "Fast & Furious 9" role possible, Wood joked that there should be a viral campaign to convince Diesel.

In addition, Wood revealed that having worked with Diesel in "The Last Witch Hunter," he found out that he and Diesel have something in common. They are both fond of everything fantasy. He explained, "It was fun, wild, hard to contextualize."

"He's a big personality and I think what's interesting about him was getting to know sort of the fantasy nerd side of him" Wood said of Diesel. "He grew up reading fantasy novels, so that was cool."

Meanwhile, Diesel talked about haters and fame. In an interview with Newsbeat, the "Furious 8" actor said he feels sorry for "people who have to cut other people down to feel better about themselves." He added that some people write about weight for profit and "that's the dark side of fame."

So far, only Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibsons and Ludacris have been confirmed to join Diesel in the "Furious 8" cast so far. Paul Walker's brother Cody Walker is rumored to join the cast but it has yet to be confirmed.
