News about "Agent Carter" season 2 renewal got fans excited of Peggy Carter's (Hayley Atwell) return. Although its release date has yet to be confirmed, multiple reports hinted that the premiere episode will air sometime early 2016.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kurtwood Smith just landed a major recurring role next season as Vernon Masters, "a veteran of the War Department with a keen understanding of how to work the system." It was said that Smith will be reunited with his "Resurrection" bosses and "Agent Carter" current showrunners Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas.
Although details about the coming episode remains scarce, the official synopsis hinted that Peggy will have a new love interest. In the recent New York Comic Con panel, it was revealed that "Devious Maids" star Reggie Austin will also be joining the cast as Jason Wilkes, a "quirky yet charismatic scientist."
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Marvel's Jeph Loeb shared that they were deeply impressed with Austin. He shared that the actor has the uncanny ability of being handsome and charming yet "extremely accessible."
Loeb explained that it was important for them to bring in a guy whom the audience could easily emphasize with. He also hinted that Austin's character Jason just might be Peggy's new love interest.
Meanwhile, "Outlander's" Lotte Verbeek will also join the cast as Ana Jarvis. She will play the wife of Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy), who will be one of Peggy's first friends after moving to Los Angeles. Loeb shared that the audience will definitely fall in love with Verbeek's easygoing character.
