Filmmakers from China and Indonesia are set to co-produce a movie to be released next year, the 65th anniversary of the founding of their diplomatic ties.
According to Indonesia's Foreign Ministry, the film, titled "55 Times," is geared toward nurturing further collaboration between the two Asian countries, said a report by the Global Times.
Indonesia's government-administered Produksi Film Negara (PFN) and China's Ocean Century Pictures (OCP) will work together on the film, which is set for screening in the two countries during the second half of 2015.
Soegeng Rahardjo, Indonesian ambassador to China, said that he is hoping for the production to kickstart deeper cooperation among filmmakers and the people in general from the two countries.
"Increasing cooperation in filmmaking would spur closer relations of people between Indonesia and China. You cannot like anything until you know it," Soegeng remarked during the signing of the production on Tuesday.
Tourism, investment and trade would benefit from an enhanced people-to-people exchange, the official said.
"55 Times" is being designed to be a comedy and will feature actors and actresses from China and Indonesia.
Filming will be done between January and February next year in Indonesia's resort island Bali.
