"The Witcher" will bring on board Geralt of Rivia, a traveling monster hunter-for-hire with extraordinary supernatural abilities. His conflict with barbaric men and savage creatures will not have been lifted from the many stories from both the fantasy book series and the video games under CD Projekt Red.

On the contrary, the producers will be basing the live version on the idea of Saskowski's second "The Witcher" short story called "The Last Wish."

The film partners have settled on two stories of the 7-chaptered collection - "The Witcher" and "Lesser Evil" - and they are expected to employ more of the story arc after this major output that will also involve a television series.

The brain behind the 2002 Oscar nominated movie "The Cathedral," Polish illustrator and animator Tomasz Baginski, will be the main focus, Euro Gamer reported. Baginski is not a stranger to "the Witcher" story since he already directed the promo for "The Witcher 2."

The director will be working on a screenplay by Thania St. John, whose most recent scripting work was for "Grimm."

St. John will as well continue working for both film and television sequels. Currently, there is no information about the characters featuring in the movie.

Previously, "The Witcher" underwent both a 2001 film and 2002 TV series reworking, which never materialized unlike the aforementioned video game adaptation of CD Projekt Red that is currently a critical and commercial hit.
