The New Orleans Pelicans are not doing as well as expected. Their secondary scorer, Tyreke Evans is injured.

Anthony Davis 'projected MVP season may be hampered by his team's dismal performance. They are the only Western Conference team that has yet to win after 5 outings. Far cry from the projection that they will be a top 8 team according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

In the latest incarnation of that list, the Pelicans have dropped to 17, which is even merciful considering that they are one of only three remaining teams that have yet to win. It has led many pundits to arrive at an early conclusion that they should have seen coming: Anthony Davis, great as he is, cannot carry this team alone.

Eric Gordon is in a contract year averaging 17.2 points but it's clearly not enough if he were the only support for the Unibrow.

Thus, the latest news that Derrick Rose will have a "breakup" with the Bulls could be an opportunity for the Pelicans to gain a solid superstar. While it could be argued that Derrick Rose is injury prone-so is Eric Gordon.

In a Real GM forum, the trade idea was floated for a Pelicans-Bulls trade. Eric Gordon and Jrue Holiday in exchange for Derrick Rose and Tony Snell.

For the Chicago Bulls, they could benefit from Gordon's expiring contract whereas with Rose, they need to wait another year. Holiday could assume starting point guard duties when healthy.

For the Pelicans, they take a chance on a much needed star alongside Davis. Aside from the on-court benefits, Rose also brings star power and intrigue to the Pelicans and Tony Snell could blossom into a contributor.

This proposal could happen but there are many "ifs" especially since most of the players involved have injury history. However, when healthy, there is no doubt that the talent is there.
