This is not the first time that BigBang and EXO battled it out in the charts. Earlier this year, the two groups dropped their latest tracks almost at the same time. In May, BigBang released their songs "Bae Bae" and "Loser" from their new album MADE, and in a staggered manner, released another two tracks, "Bang Bang Bang" and "We Like 2 Paryt" in June.

EXO, on the other hand, released its repackaged album "Love Me Right" on June 3. It was an intense battle in the weekly music programs and fans and netizens joined in the social media war, Soompi reported.

Meanwhile, it seems that SM Entertainment will reap most of the awards in the upcoming event thanks to its wide array of releases this year. Girls Generation is securing the Best Female Group throne against Apink, Miss A, Sistar, and AOA.

Super Junior's Kyuhyun is nominated for Best Male Artist and Best Vocal Performance Male awards, while Girls Generation's Taeyeon is the front runner for the Best Vocal Performance Female.

Lastly, Amber and Red Velvet were topping the Best Dance Performance for Solo and Female Group awards, respectively.

Voting for the polls will end on Dec. 1. This year's event will be held in Hong Kong on Dec. 2.
