The Los Angeles Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies is set for a beefy battle when the two Western Conference heavyweights clash on Monday night at Staples Center.
The Clippers official twitter account posted a message hitting at the Memphis lopsided defeat from the defending champs following the Grizzlies 50-point loss over the streaking hot Golden State Warriors, which Memphis players took lightly.
"I take it with a grain of salt. I ain't with all that talking and Instagramming and tweeting and bluffing," Grizzlies power forward Zach Randolph told Memphis Commercial Appeal. "You got to prove it on the court."
But both teams are on a losing slump, with the Clippers losing against the Houston Rockets while the Grizzlies over the Utah Jazz.
Paul is doubtful to play against the Grizzlies after sitting out in their 109-105 loss against the Rockets. But coach Doc Rivers is convinced Paul's absence has nothing to do with the way "we played."
Blake Griffin, who has been off to a hot start for the Clippers, is expected to lead the charge for Rivers' side. The All-Star power forward averaged 29.3 points per game on 59.8 percent shooting in the Clippers' early campaign into the NBA season.
Meanwhile, Austin Rivers would most likely start for the Clippers just as he did in Houston, where he scored 10 points. But Rivers' 38.1 percent shooting is certainly a downgrade compared to Paul's 46.2.
On the other hand, Grizzlies are well beyond their expected outcome early in the season. They have now lost four of their seven games into the NBA 2015-2016 regular season, including back-to-back defeats against the Jazz and the Portland Trailblazers.
ESPN reported that Memphis has been demonstrating their worst marks since the 2009-2010 season with 101.7 points and 47.0 percent shooting allowed to the opposing team.
However, coach Dave Joerger believes the Grizzlies is starting to perform better despite the early struggles.
