Former "X Factor" contestant Nathaniel O'Brien has been killed in a car crash, a few hours after his performance at a country music festival in South Australia.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, O'Brian's car had crashed into a tree in Hanson, a small town about 150 kilometers north of Adelaide at 11 o'clock in the morning on Nov. 8. The publication added that the prior to the incident, 19-year-old had performed at the Burra Country Music Festival and was driving on the Barrier Highway heading to Adelaide, as he was set to have another gig that day.
South Australia Police told The Sydney Morning Herald that O'Brien had been the only person in the car at that time and had been killed at the time of the crash. According to The Advertiser, emergency services had been called to the scene at about 11 o'clock in the morning.
O'Brien was one of the "X Factor" contestants last year and he managed to be part of the initial boot camp to the top 24 performers. The artist managed to have a mentor session with a vocal coach, in addition to his session with Nat Bassingthwaighte.
Bassingthwaighte tweeted on his official Twitter account his heartfelt message to O'Briens' family after learning the incident. She said in her tweet that O'Briens was a spectacular young man with the voice of an angel.
The "X Factor Australia" family had also expressed their lamentation for O'Briens' early departure on Facebook. In the post, the team behind the show said that they were deeply saddened by the passing of the singer and their hearts went out to his family. The team added that O'Briens had a beautiful voice, which had won many fans.
O'Briens' friends and fans also paid tribute to the former "X Factor" contestant on social media, saying that he had been a beautiful soul and he would be sadly missed by many.
