A certain Mike Dobs from Fayetteville, North Carolina had reportedly threated to sue Carolina Panthers' superstar quarterback Cam Newton for tearing and taking a banner he made to show support for the visiting Green Bay Packers at the Bank of America Stadium on Sunday.

The sign said "North Carolina Cheesehead" with Green Bay's colors and logo in front of the map of North Carolina.

Fayetteville Observer reported that Dobs want the $500 banner back, who the Packers fan said he was using it to hang "in his home's 'man room'", to the point that he reported the incident to the local police saying that Newton "stole" it from him.

"I was just shocked, shocked," Dobs told reporters. "It went from a fun event to I was disgusted."

Dobs also complained to the Panthers' management and demanded compensation for his lost prized possession. One of the team's employees assured him that the Panthers will "make it up to him", yet he still gave the franchise 48 hours to make everything right before he would take legal action.

However, NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk noted that "the rules precluded him from displaying it in the first place," with regards to the flaunting of the banner.

The Panthers' banner and flag policy allegedly states that any banner or the like hanged "over the railing of the lower deck" that expresses support to visiting teams is prohibited at the Bank of America Stadium. Hand held signs or posters are allowed, but not something as large as that 8 feet by 3 feet tarp.

Dobs is said to be a losing Council election candidate of Fayetteville City and a retired Army command sergeant major who works at Fort Bragg.
