Worldwide Pants Inc., the production company of Letterman and CBS, has recently announced the date of the final show of "Late Show," which was run for 22 years in the network every Wednesday morning.
After Letterman announced his plans to retire, Stephen Colbert was reported to be his successor. Colbert is also a known TV host of Comedy Central show, which will end on Dec. 18. While there is still no official date when Colbert will start, it is reasonable to expect this to come in this fall since the crew will need summer to dismantle the sets of Letterman and install the team of Colbert in Ed Sullivan Theatre.
Letterman is popular for being the longest-tenured talk show host. By the time he retires, he will have hosted over 6,000 episodes of late night television like the "Late Night" of NBC and CBS.
The retirement date of Letter man is reminiscent to Johnny Carson, his idol, who stepped down from "Tonight Show" on May 22, 1992. According to Leslie Moonves, Chief Executive and President of CBS, Letterman has provided everyone an exceptional legacy of creative brilliance and achievement that will be treasured by many people.
