The upcoming fifth season of "Switched at Birth" will feature major changes in the lives of Bay (Vanessa cordin) and Daphne (Katie Leclerc).
Now that they are out of college, Bay and Daphne will both head to China. Bay will work as a tattoo artist, and Daphne will work to help other deaf kids to learn sign language.
However, an unfortunate event will require them to return to the United States and be with their family.
As of late, it is still unclear what this unfortunate event is, but executive producer Karey Burke said that fans can expect new twists on the hit ABC Family series.
"Every season 'Switched at Birth' continues to deliver fresh, relatable storylines that tackle important social issues, reflecting what our audience experiences daily... We're excited to see where creator Lizzy Weiss will take these characters next," he said.
Meanwhile, fans have been speculating on who and why someone called Bay while she was designing a tattoo for a client.
According to Zap2It, there are so many possibilities on why the girls have to return to their family.
One of which is the fact that Eric may have been found and arrested for kidnapping his son Will. It's also possible that Toby and Lily had problems after giving birth to their baby who has Down Syndrome.
Another possibility has to do with Katherine and John who were previously faced with financial troubles.
"Switched at Birth" season 5 is set to premiere on ABC Family sometime next year. By then, the network will be called Freeform.
