If you were to ask someone if they have ever heard of rags to riches story, I am sure they will yes. WWE now is currently playing out one of those stories though their current 'poster boy' Roman Reigns.

Reigns as we know who was a member of the destructive force The Shield has been looking to make a career for himself as a singles competitor after the legendary trio split last year. Of the three members as we know the so-called Architect of the group Seth Rollins has been the most successful.

Rollins though, however, is now sidelined for what many expect to be in the region of six to nine months. That news should be just the break that Roman needs to help continue his growing popularity.

It wasn't all a bed of roses as WWE fans know so well. Roman Reigns is one of the best athletes on the roster today, that's a fact. Having said that though being a good athlete and a good wrestler are to different things.

Let's take Bray Wyatt for example, Wyatt isn't the most, let's say well-built wrestlers on the roster - but what he does do is excellent promos. The Wyatt family leader attracts people to his character even if you hate his character.

This was where Roman was lacking. A few poor promos and shaky performances, in general, didn't help, especially because WWE fans wanted Daniel Bryan to be pushed into the Wrestlemania picture.

At the time, I could see where they were going with that whole Reigns thing after all the Powerhouse did win the Royal Rumble - but it was forced down the WWE universe's throats somewhat. Continous booing followed Reigns whichever WWE shows that he appeared in, this isn't the kind of reception you would expect the number one contender for Brock Lesnar's title to receive.

That match with Lesnar was the catalyst though for things to change. That match with the Beast In Carnate tore the house down and people were starting to think that maybe this Roman Reigns fella isn't that bad.

Acknowledging that they might have got their decision wrong to give Reigns a push to early, wisely went back to the drawing board with the Reigns character and a mid card promo with Bray Wyatt and being the supporting cast to a Dean Ambrose title challenge followed.

In this period, it allowed WWE to really allow the Powerhouse character to grow, Roman Reigns is visibly more confident now and his promos are now a lot better. Roman's talent was never in doubt and fittingly at Survivor series The Big Dowg has the WWE title within his sights.

A bit fortunate some may because of Seth's injury, but sometimes you make your own luck.
