Micromax, India's biggest local smartphone maker has shocked the entire tech world by going one step further than any other tech company had gone. Yureka, the company's newest smartphone will be released for an unbelievably low price of $140. The most ambitious aspect of this though is that it runs using the CyanogenMod.

A $140 smartphone is deemed to be mid-level or even entry-level but looking beyond Yureka's hood will definitely change that perspective. Powered by a 1.5GHz Cortex A-53 Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa core chip, this smartphone will give any competition a good run for its money. Among its powerful set of hardware includes a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera. It also has 2GB of RAM and a 16GB of internal memory. The phone also supports expandable storage of up to 32GB thanks to its microSD support. Additionally, it has a 5.5 inch display that supports HD resolution of up to 1280 x 720 pixel with pixel density of 267 ppi. The phone also comes in LTE capable and has dual-SIM capability.

So far, the feature that really stands out of Yureka is its Android Kitkat based CyanogenMod Rom. CyanogenMod is an OS based on the Android mobile platform. It was developed as a free and open source software. CyanogenMod offers features such as the heads-up notification that is currently available in Android Lollipop. The OS also offers users the ability to switch between the software and hardware version of some buttons.

Micromax' migration to the CyanogenMod has recently sparked some serious controversy. A deal between Micromax and Cyanogen was brokered lately, enabling Micromax to exclusively market the OS in India, however the move might be breach of a previous deal made by Cyanogen to OnePlus giving them global contract.

Yureka is currently available for pre-order in Amazon's India website.
