Tech giant Microsoft recently announced its commitment towards the delivery of services that focuses more on the cloud platform. The Redmond-based company promises that its cloud platform Azure will focus more on security and mobility.
Microsoft vice president for enterprise mobility Brad Anderson made the announcement during the Microsoft Ignite Australia 2015 event. Microsoft is now shifting its focus towards creating an intelligent cloud platform, making personal computing more personal and reinventing business productivity.
Anderson claimed that Microsoft has already achieved its plan of creating an intelligent cloud platform. The company successfully launched Azure in Australia where the cloud platform was warmly welcomed. Following its launch in the region, Azure saw a significant increase in usage of its public cloud platform.
Anderson added that more than 50 percent of all Australian enterprise organizations now employ the service of Azure cloud platform.
In terms of global presence, Microsoft claimed that Azure's international revenue mostly came from small and medium enterprises, independent software vendors and startup companies.
Following its expansion in Australia, Microsoft said that it has signed a deal with Australian-based companies NextDC and Megaport. The two companies will deliver Microsoft Office 365 Express Route in order to help users in migrating their data into the cloud platform.
According to CCT News, Microsoft also partnered with six other Australian companies that provides cloud solution. These companies are Dimension Data, Datacom, Data#3, SaaS Plaza, Buttonwood Cloud Exchange and Rackspace.
In terms of securing the cloud platform, Anderson told ZDnet, "Corporate data and application is no longer safe behind a firewall. Much of the data is now moved into the cloud ... so fundamentally the perimeter that we've always based our security on has evaporated and we have to figure out what security means in a whole different light to before."
