Swedish video game developer Mojang will be collaborating with American video game developer Telltale Games to create "Minecraft: Story Mode." The upcoming game, which will be released sometime in 2015, will be similar to the latter's episodic video game titles such as its popular "The Walking Dead" series and the latest "Game of Thrones."

Telltale posted a tweet today announcing that it was "working with" Mojang to develop the game.

Telltale's video games are known for its narrative style and releasing its titles in episodes. The video game developer said that it will not be an "official" story for Minecraft's Steve, a name jokingly given by the game's creator Markus "Notch" Persson in 2009, and also not about the origin of the Minecraft's sandbox universe.

Owen Hill, "Chief Word Officer"" of Mojang, said that it will only be letting the players experience an "alternate interpretation."

It will be introducing new characters as the original game had no real named characters, just enemy mobs, chickens, pigs, generic villagers, and more.

There were no additional details or spoilers given about what story Telltale would create in the upcoming game.

The first part or episode  of MineCraft: Story Mode is slated for release in 2015, and will be launched on the PC, Mac, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and as well as on Android and iOS devices.

The new game will be launched a few months after Redmond-based tech giant Microsoft bought Mojang for $2.5 billion in November 9 Mojang founders Persson, Jakob Porser and Carl Manneh left the firm after the acquisition from Microsoft.

"Minecraft" was the first video game title from Mojang and was launched in 2009. It went on to sell more than 54 million copies to date.
