"Hello" hit maker Adele's newly released album, "25," will not be available for streaming on services like Spotify and Apple Music.
After weeks of speculation whether the 27-year-old British singer will bow down to the terms set by music streaming giants or not, it emerged that all the major digital music services, including Gizmodo and Deezer among others, were informed that "25" will not be available for streaming, an insider told New York Times.
Reports also stated that Adele was personally involved in the decision to restrict her music from streaming services. The album is set to release on Nov. 20, Friday, and is most likely to make its way to such services due to illicit sharing.
However, the singer's labels Columbia and XL Recordings have "an aggressive plan" to fight piracy, a source told CNN Money.
Adele's first single from the upcoming album, "Hello," released earlier this month and is already generating rave reviews. The song has made its way into Spotify and has become the first song to sell more than one million downloads in a week.
Since the success of Adele's last album "21," which sold more than 11 million copies and won multiple Grammy awards, expectations are high for her upcoming album. It is reported that the album can break a longstanding sales record held by N' Sync, who sold 2.4 million copies in its first week of their 2000 album "No Strings Attached."
To meet the expectations, Adele reportedly will ship 3.6 million physical copies of her new album, marking the largest number of new-release CDs shipped in the past decade.
