Coldplay frontman Chris Martin recently opened up about the group's collaborations with popular artistes on their latest album including "Crazy In Love" singer Beyonce. He also revealed why his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow was featured on the band's album and how fasting helps in sparking his creative streak with songwriting.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Martin said the song "Hymn On The Weekend" was born out of a desire to create a club track. Martin said he was listening to Flo Rida's song "Turn Down For What" and thought to himself that he would like to have a song called "Drinks On Me."
The "Paradise" singer told the publication the melody came naturally, but his band mates were not convinced with the lyrics. He said the lyrics were then changed to "Drink From Me."
Martin told the publication the idea behind the song evolved into having an, "angelic person in your life and that turned into asking Beyoncé to sing on it."
While discussing songwriting techniques, Martin said that he found fasting to be an effective means in bring out his creative skills. He said he fasts for 24 to 30 hours for one day of the week.
Meanwhile, "Halo" singer Beyonce's daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who is just three-years-old also features in the new album.
" We recorded Blue Ivy Carter in New York when her mom Beyoncé was in the studio," Martin told the publication. He said, "everyone who got asked to sing on our album has an important part in our lives."
In another interview with Rolling Stone, Martin told that the session took only a day when asked about Paltrow singing backup vocals. He added, "It was just a friendly kind of thing."
Paltrow sings backup on a farewell ballad called, "Everglow," about the beauty of an enduring relationship.
The band's seventh album titled, "A Head Full Of Dreams," is scheduled to be released on Dec. 4.
