David Beckham is People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive."
The 40-year-old former England soccer captain and fashion icon said that he does not think of himself as sexy, but he was honored to receive the title and his mother would be proud of his latest award.
"I never feel that I'm an attractive, sexy person," Movie News Guide quoted Beckham as saying. "I mean I like to wear nice clothes and nice suits and look and feel good, but I don't ever think of myself that way."
"It's a huge honor," and "I'm very pleased to accept," the soccer sensation nicknamed "bend-it-like-Beckham" told People Magazine.
The English footballer who brought his legendary soccer style to the LA Galaxy soccer club said his kids were surprised by the award. His kids could not believe that the 'Sexiest Man Alive" award was "really" their dad, with Brooklyn, the oldest, saying it may have been him who got the award and not his father.
Despite minor rumors of marital problems, Beckham is known for his loyalty to his family, and love for his kids. He lives in a summer home in LA, which is a second home from the family's primary residence in London, dubbed as "Beckingham Palace."
Beckham discussed his over 40 tattoos in an interview with People Mag. He is particularly fond of the tattoos representing his family. An angel on his left shoulder takes the caption, "In the face of adversity," which is a symbol from the Bible reminding him about Victoria and the kids.
After his marriage to Spice Girl turned fashion-designer, Victoria Adams, Beckham too is getting his "feet wet" in the fashion industry. His recent photoshoots have turned him into a fashion icon and his hairstyle has reportedly improved since his soccer days in England.
Some of his former clubs include Manchester United. When he made it to the junior Man U. club, all he could do was cry, said his mother. He later grabbed the attention of Old Trafford fans with his signature "high-precision" free kicks converting them into goals. He captained Manchester United paving the way for a place on the England team roster and captaincy.
