The Samsung Gear Virtual Reality became available last week, and to help promote the device, the South Korean tech giant launched over the weekend a commercial.

The advertisement is part of Samsung's "It's Not a Phone, It's a Galaxy" campaign to introduce the phone accessory to the virtual reality community. Techcrunch finds the commercial surprisingly good since it acknowledge the difficulty of explaining the potential of VR in its review of the gadget.

Using the tagline, "Virtual reality just got real," the commercial, the tech website observes, is very simple, very clean, very playful and not nerdy.

Although it says the commercial is "still a long shot" for the company to entice people to immediately part with their $99, it would help people fill in their "wish list" for the Christmas holiday as consumers begin purchasing Yuletide giveaways on Black Friday.

CNET reviewer Nate Ralph agrees, describing the Gear VR as "the best virtual reality gadget you can buy right now" because of how simple to use the device is as explained by the commercial, created in collaboration with Oculus.

Although it is not his preferred form of immersion, Ralph writes, "I can imagine millions of concerned parents - concerned that their kids will hate them if they buy the wrong Christmas gift, that is - will take one look at this, see the $99.99 price and feel as if they might have bought tolerance for another few months."
