Despite being on the market for less than two weeks, the Samsung Gear VR virtually reality headset is already sold out on online stores like Best Buy and Amazon. Many tech analysts consider it the best virtual reality device of the year but some doubt if it can sustain the hype until 2016 when new virtual reality devices hit the market.

Following the release of two developer kits, the Samsung Gear VR was finally released on Nov. 20. The virtual reality device is a joint project between South Korean company Samsung and Oculus VR, a Facebook-owned company.

Devices compatible with the Gear VR are currently limited to Samsung's latest line for flagship devices; Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+.

According to Gizmag, there is an adjuster on the Gear VR in order to properly fit the smaller Galaxy S6 phones and the larger Note 5 and Edge+ models into place.

Despite the attention it is getting, the Gear VR still struggles with content. There are several 360-degree videos on YouTube but not a lot of 3D-format contents are available online.

In terms of gaming, there are many video game titles available for the Gear VR. The highly immersive and vibrant Land's End from Ustwo game studio is currently available for $9.99. Other high-profile games available for the Gear VR are mystery thriller "Dead Secret" from Robot Invader and the action-packed "Bandit Six: Salvo" from Climax Studios.

According to Tech Crunch, the Samsung Gear VR is currently priced at $99 at Samsung's online store.
