Pregnant Paula Lane is leaving "Coronation Street" to go on maternity leave. The Christmas episode of the United Kingdom's longest running soap opera appears to be unhappy as Lane's character Kylie Platt bids goodbye.

"I promised you it was a good exit for Kylie on Christmas Day and that's exactly what we've got!" Lane told STV adding that she is "absolutely chuffed to pieces with it" and it was worth every single minute although it has probably been one of the most exhausting schedules she will ever have to do.

According to Lane, it was not easy to hide her pregnancy on the show. She said, "It's even trickier when it gives you a quick jab during a scene and quickly brings you back down to earth that you have a little human being inside of you. But, yeah, it's wonderful."

Also, Lane admitted she has no idea about the next part in the storyline including the details about her character. She does not even know where her character has gone and whether or not she will be back at all.

"It's a massive secret. I don't even know where she goes," Paula said. "I don't know when Kylie will return, we don't know where she'll return from, but it is going to be very explosive."

Lane's "Coronation Street" co-actor Les Dennis also told Liverpool Echo that "Christmas Day is explosive."

Earlier this year, Dennis joined the "Coronation Street" cast playing Michael Rodwell, an unsuccessful small-time felon who was caught burglarizing the house of Gail McIntyre played by Helen Worth.

Eventually becoming Gail McIntyre's love interest, Dennis' character is now a part of the dysfunctional family.

"The Kylie and David scenario is going to come to a massive head at Christmas," Les revealed adding that the Christmas episode "starts off well and Kylie wants to make it a perfect Christmas, she makes such an effort because she wants to keep the family together."
