"Rise of the Tomb Raider" is the sequel to the "Tomb Raider" video game released in 2013. Just like its predecessor, the new entry to the "Tomb Raider" franchise was developed by Crystal Dynamics and was released exclusively to the Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles in November.
The "Tomb Raider" franchise is known for its fast-paced action-adventure gameplay, "Rise of the Tomb Raider" is no exception to this formula. In fact, many critics praised the game's gameplay structure that has an in-depth action-adventure element.
One of the biggest complaints about the previous "Tomb Raider" game was its lack of puzzles. "Rise of the Tomb Raider" addressed this by incorporating a hefty amount of puzzles to solve within the game's main story line. On the other hand, critics noticed that some of the most interesting puzzles are somewhat relegated to the optional tombs challenge.
According to Sports Illustrated, "Rise of the Tomb Raider" developer Crystal Dynamic did a great job with the game's graphics and presentation. The studio pushed the hardware limits of the Xbox One console in order to create a wonderfully detailed world.
"Rise of the Tomb Raider" also features a new crafting system which allow players to create items by scavenging materials that are scattered throughout the game. In terms of gameplay mechanics, Crystal Dynamics polished the new game's combat system and gave more emphasis on stealth and sneak attacks.
The game's main storyline is thoroughly engaging and presents very interesting plot twists. The game's beautiful in-game flashbacks provide a well-thought narrative throughout the entire game.
According to IGN, "Rise of the Tomb Raider" has excellent puzzles that will keep players busy for hours. The game also provides a gorgeous world for players to discover.
