Sony is rumored to be developing a large tablet to be released within the first two quarters of 2015.

According to Digitimes, the tablet will be sized 12.9 inches and is targeted for high-end tablet consumers as its price tag may be more than $1,000, according to sources.

The sources also said that Sony won't be developing for the PC market and is focusing its efforts for the upcoming Sony tablet.

In addition, sources have claimed that the Sony tablet will be manufactured by Pegatron Technology, which also manufactures the Surface tablet for Microsoft and the iPad for Apple. Pegatron did not respond to Digitimes regarding the Sony tablet or other clients.

According to the sources, the Sony tablet will feature a 3,840 x 2,400 pixel resolution, a camera with 8 megapixels and a processor from Qualcomm. The Sony tablet is also expected to be only 8.6mm thick. The sources say that supply chains have finished preparing the needed components for the Sony tablet mass production.

Besides Sony, there are also other tech giants rumored to be developing larger sized tablets for 2015, including Samsung, who is rumored to be developing a 13.3-inch tablet "Warhol" and Apple, who is also rumored to be developing 12.2-inch iPad, as well as a smaller iPhone 6 dubbed as the "iPhone 6s Mini."

In 2011, Sony launched its first tablet, the Sony Tablet S, but was not received well by consumers. Sony then launched the Xperia Z2 and Z3 Tablet sized 10.1 inch and 8 inch respectively.
