At the premiere, Kang Je-gyu praised Sun Hao for his work in the film, which serves as his directorial debut.

"I think the most important characters those new directors should have are determination and persistence," Kang said. "Director Sun Hao is already equipped with such characters. Though this film seems a little bit dark, you can still sense the cheerfulness in it. Sun Hao has the potential to direct more types of films.

Chen Bolin, the film's leading actor, was absent at the premiere. However, he did send a video message to congratulate those involved in the production for the film's opening.

The film tells the story of a Chinese primary school teacher who travels with friends to Jeju Island. There he comes across a mysterious woman and gets involved in a local crime.

Previously, the film unveiled its Chinese theme song entitled "Cinderella," which was composed and recorded by South Korean popular rock band CNBLUE. The song, which charted in several countries, also features on the band's album, "2gether."

"Bad Guys Always Die" is scheduled to hit theaters all over China on Friday, Nov. 27.
