Facebook Login (Photo : Twitter)

Facebook has launched its own SDK for the latest Apple TV’s tvOS, allowing developers to create an engaging social experience for the users.

The new Login SDK has support for a login method that will not require users to key on anything on the Apple TV remote. User can choose whichever third-party app they are trying to get into, click on ‘Login with Facebook’, and a short code will be given to them to enter on their computer or smartphone, Gizmodo reported.

The login screen will instruct the user to go to facebook.com/device on the phone. After logging in, the user need to just have to enter an 8-character confirmation code to associate the Facebook account with Apple TV. There would be no need to use the on-screen Apple TV keyboard to enter full log-in information.

Facebook SDK on tvOS will also allow developers to implement the ability for users to share content from the Apple TV to their Facebook accounts. This could include content like videos, photos, gaming high scores, and more. The apps on iOS allow Facebook sharing now.

Finally, Facebook’s tvOS SDK will allow developers to more easily track their audience and audience engagement, according to 9to5Mac. Developers who implement the SDK will be able to see what type of users are viewing their apps and use that data to make more poignant decisions. Game developers might find this feature useful to boost their growth as well.

The social network giant is not the first to use this kind of social experience technique. If a user has downloaded the YouTube app on the Apple TV, they may have noticed that they can connect it to their Google account by using the same process. Similarly, Android TV uses the same login mechanism for devices running Android TV.
