Top Party leaders pledged on Monday that the fight against corruption within the Communist Party will persist amid roadblocks and challenges. Cliques and factions, according to the released statement, have no place within the workers' solidarity.
The statement released after a high-level plenum presided by President Xi Jinping, stressed out that the determination and systematic measures used in the crackdown of corruption that began last year had won many victories in terms of Party cleansing and public approval. All these victories, the statement said, are all in the name of clean governance.
Although much of the corruption and abuse by officials have been curbed, the statement also said that the Party must still remain vigilant to face future anti-graft battles ahead.
"The Party's disciplines must be complied with. The Party has never allowedcliques and factions within it," the statement said.
The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection was urged to launch more systematic reforms and procedures especially in matters concerning in-house inspections of government divisions and State-owned enterprises.
The statement condemned the examples set by cliques and factions formed by Zhou Yongkang, Xu Caihou and Ling Jihua, all former high-ranking Party figures who held enormous powers, who were now repudiated in the anti-graft drive.
Zhou was the former chief of law enforcement who reportedly used his power to form anti-worker patronage networks. Many officials, both local and central has been has been repudiated for conniving with Zhou. Zhou has been recently expelled from CPC and now under investigation.
Xu was a retired general who, upon investigation by the Party's watchdog, was found to have formed factions in the People's Liberation Army. Internal investigation said that Xu used his influence and power to accept bribes in exchange of rank promotions within the PLA. Xu's investigation began last October. He is considered to be the highest ranking PLA official to be charged in 30 years. A great number of PLA officers are now undergoing investigations for conniving with Xu.
Ling was a senior Party official who apparently established a secret faction among high-ranking officials and businessmen from Shanxi, Ling's hometown. Several Party officials are also being investigated in connection with Ling's case.
Lastly, the statement said that the domino effect of the fallen comrades will not stop until the Party cleanse itself of unworthy comrades and establish a true Party for the working class.
