Instagram is now testing the much requested feature called multiple account support with selected Android users.
The feature was on app version 7.12.0, which can also be downloaded via APK Mirror. The update is only available for Android smartphones, and there is no word on when the feature will make its way to iOS devices. Since the multiple accounts feature is in beta stages, Instagram is likely to make it live for all the users worldwide soon.
Users can log in to another account by tapping Settings>Add Account. From there, users have the option if they want to log in with their other account or create a new one, according to NDTV Gadgets. Once logged in with more than one account, users can jump between them from the selector placed at the top right corner of the display. A green-colored notification will be shown once users have logged in to their other account.
It will allow users to use multiple accounts on a single installation of the Instagram app. For brands, publications, and artists that have multiple Instagram accounts to manage the ability to quickly switch between them is an advantage.
The option to switch between multiple accounts is something Instagram users have been demanding for some time. It is not yet clear at what point Instagram will finalize testing of the account switching option and then roll it out to the larger Instagram user base, or if such plans are even on its roadmap, TechCrunch reported. The company may also consider experimenting on different means of offering this option before committing to a public release.
Recently, Instagram also quietly launched Snapchat Live Stories like-feature on the platform. Current apps in Instagram’s portfolio include, Boomerang that allows users create and share GIF-style 1 second videos, Hyperlapse and Layout.
