Initially, the e-commerce giant has no comment on a potential Amazon Instant Video app for tvOS. Amazon appears to have confirmed that it is developing a tvOS app for Prime Video. Engineer Dan Bostonweeks, a user of the service's iOS app, received a promising reply from an Amazon customer service representative. It says that the company's technical team is already well into the development of a tvOS offering, according to Mac Rumors.

As far as a release date goes, Amazon says that they are hoping to launch the app within a few weeks span. Amazon has successfully developed an app for iPhone and iPad and they are hoping that its separate app for Apple will be a success as well, 9to5Mac reported.

With the fourth-generation Apple TV and its accompanying tvOS App Store, Apple opened the door to over-the-top streaming and on-demand services, popular features for customers seeking alternatives to traditional cable television packages.

Amazon Video for iOS is free on the App Store and accessible by Amazon Prime members. The service is also available on the following platform: Android, Fire OS, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii, Wii U, the web and select TV and Blu-ray players from LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and Vizio.
