Not only is the show not doing well in terms of ratings, fans continued to clamor over their desire to see Dobrev reprise her role as Elena Gilbert.

Unfortunately, Dobrev said during a recent interview that she will no longer return to the show even though it gets renewed.

According to E! News, "The Vampire Diaries" will be moved to a Friday timeslot starting next year.

The show's usual Thursday timeslot will be given to The CW's new show "DC's Legends of Tomorrow."

Most often than not, shows that are cancelled are also moved to a Friday timeslot, so "The Vampire Diaries" may just make the cut next year.

In other news, Dobrev recently went under fire for telling Interview magazine that she has become so picky when it comes to accepting new roles.

Fans originally thought that Dobrev already had a backup plan before she exited the franchise.

Now that they learned that she's still choosing her new projects, fans believe that the actress indeed left the franchise when it wasn't faring well in terms of ratings.

Even though this could be a bold move for "The Final Girls" actress, fans believe that the favorite cast member only gained popularity after starring on "The Vampire Diaries."

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
