To call Nvidia Tegra X1 just another microchip would be an understatement. In fact many experts have already labeled it a "superchip" and it is without doubt that this processor is insanely fast.

The Tegra X1 was built using the same architecture that helped propel Nvidia GPU's in the market. On a benchmark test that was done with the Tegra X1, it appears that it has the power to render 4K resolution with an at an amazing refresh rate of 60HZ, no graphics card in the market right now can achieve or even came close to that.

A latest test on the Tegra X1 has the power to achieve more than 1teraflop of processing power. How Nvidia manage to squeeze in such processing power within the size of a thumbnail still remains a mystery.

Based on Nvidia's official statement the Tegra x1 has a 256-core Maxwell Graphic Processing Unit. It has an octa-core CPU which consists of four ARM Cortex A57 and four ARM Cortex A53. It can achieve 60Hz of refresh rate on a 4K video resolution. It has a camera throughput of around 1.3 gigapixel. It also follows the 20nanometer process technology.

According to Nvidia, their main plan is to integrate the Tegra X1 into various automobile applications and various mobile devices as well. No release date has been confirmed but Nvidia promised that it will be out in the market within the first six months of the year.
