A post regarding Facebook updating its terms and conditions has gone viral for a couple of days now. It says that Facebook is going to own your personal data and account deletion does not spare you from it. However, by copying and pasting that legal statement on your timeline, your Facebook account will be exempted from the new legal policies.
In reality, this is not the case. No one is exempted from such since each member have already agreed to the Facebook legal terms from the sign-up time. Nevertheless, Facebook will not own account data or personal details as it is owned by the profile owner. The terms and condition guidelines is all a big hoax.
Snopes.com states that this type of Facebook hoax has been going around online since 2012. This fraudulent online buzz comes up every now and then from then on.
When it first circulated online in 2012, Facebook commented on it as follows, "There is a rumor circulating that Facebook is making a change related to ownership of users' information or the content they post to the site. This is false. Anyone who uses Facebook owns and controls the content and information they post, as stated in our terms."
Also to quote a portion of the actual Facebook terms and conditions, "You own all of the content and information you post on Facebook, and you can control how it is shared through your privacy and application settings."
This should be enough and believable that all are mere online pranks.
