The "Men In Black" franchise is to get a dose of feminism as its producers have promised audiences a "Woman In Black" in the upcoming fourth installment and say not rule out lead actor Will Smith for newest film.

Producer couple Laurie MacDonald and her husband Walter Parkes who have been behind the previous three films told BBC's Newsbeat, "There will be a prominent woman in black in the fourth [film]."

Parkes told the British channel that the couple see the films as part of their own trilogy, and the concept of a female lead is their idea of reinventing the franchise.

"Now we're looking at a reinvention. But it's a wonderful world to get back into," Parkes said.

While "After Hours" actress Linda  Fiorentino appeared in the first film  and "Saving Mr. Banks" star Emma Thompson played  the character of  Agent O in "Men In Black 3," the latest recruit to the fourth installment will play a more prominent role.

The producers have said the yet undisclosed actress will not be playing second or fourth fiddle to the lead characters played by Tommy Lee Jones and Smith. While it has been reported that Smith will not be featured in the upcoming installment, Parkes said,"Never count Will out."

The first film in the franchise was released  in 1997, and had Lee Jone playing the character of Agent K, and Smith playing Agent J. The two agents were on a mission to keep aliens who led secret lives on earth  from causing chaos and taking control.

Meanwhile, according to Vanity Fair, the recent Sony hack scandal revealed plans of a possible storyline for the fourth "Men In Black" installment to be a cross over between "21 Jump Street"  and "Men In Black."

Reports claimed that plans are ahead to some degree with the film even though Smith has yet to confirm his participation.
